Nigeria can not go back to unbridled PMS subsidy ; The TUC understand the Petroleum Industry Bill (signed into law by PMB) which deregulated the industry and necessitated the NNPCL* which is now a full fledged limited liability company with the FG being the largest shareholder that influences the appointment of its GM.

    The only thing the TUC can argue is a LIVING wage, diversification of the revenue sources of the sovereign state, and the optimization of the federal, state and LG public service to deliver better service and increase the size of the ‘national cake’ .

    Nigeria FG can also look at the levies and duties related to delivery of PMS at the pump and review the possibility of consolidation and removal of some, I live in a country where over 60% of the price of PMs and Diesel is government tax and levies at near £1.60, and this is a tendency globally.

    The problem is not the price of PMS but the capacity to purchase it and earn a decent wage to sustain a respectable life, that’s what TUC should tackle
