Manchester City tightened their grip on the Premier League title race with a dominant 3-0 victory over Chelsea, which has now placed serious pressure on Arsenal, Soccernet.ng reports.

City’s commanding performance not only secured three vital points but also cut the gap at the top to just six points, with a game in hand.

As such, there’s an even bigger spectacle to expect when Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to the Etihad next Sunday, in what is a title-deciding, season-deciding clash for both sides.

For Nigerian fans, many of whom either support Chelsea or Arsenal, the result sparked wild reactions across social media, especially from rival supporters eager to stir the pot.

Have a look at what the fans feel about Arsenal losing three domestic games in a row, which has seen them knocked out of two competitions, as compiled by Soccernet.ng.

“I’m a Chelsea fan, we won, but we lost. Arsenal are our London rivals, and they’ve beaten us four times this season. I don’t want them to win,” a fan said.

Another Chelsea supporter echoed the same thoughts: “Their fans make so much noise. They’re Arsenal but have a Real Madrid mentality. They have to calm down. They went from gunning for a treble to trouble.”

“Arteta works for Pep Guardiola, let’s not deceive ourselves. He knows Manchester City will win the league,” an Arsenal fan aired, after seeing the Manchester City crowd go wild at Stamford Bridge in celebration of Marc Guehi’s goal.

“As a football fan, I’m happy for the result, but as a Chelsea fan, I’m not.” – Shady Killz.

Chelsea cannot help Arsenal win the league

“Arsenal fans clamour that they have the best squad in the World, but Ben White starts for them. Chelsea have better squad depth; it’s just numbers. Delap came on in the second half, came on to lose the match for me.”

“Chelsea will go to the Champions League, but I needed the loss. I like the loss, so Arsenal won’t win the title.” – Sulaiman Adeowo

“How can you play Manchester City 13 times without a victory. My joy is that no one is helping anyone. If you want to win the league, you have to be friends with United and Chelsea fans. It’s not Arsenal’s turn, but they want to jump.” – Daniel Alexandra

Should Manchester City seal a win against Arsenal at the Etihad next week, they’ll be within three points of the Gunners with six league games left to play.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are losing ground in their race to secure a UEFA Champions League spot. Rosenior’s side are four points outside of the assured top-five teams.
