APC confirms Mutfwang’s defection, unveils plans for grand reception

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that it will formally receive Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau State Governor, into the party in January 2026.

Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the APC disclosed this on Tuesday after a stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, Plateau State capital, describing the planned reception as a major political event for the state.

Yilwatda said the governor’s defection would further consolidate and strengthen the APC in Plateau State, adding that the party is open to all influential Nigerians willing to join its fold.

“We are ready to organise a colourful reception to demonstrate that Plateau State is firmly APC with his coming on board,” he said.

Yilwatda expressed confidence that the party would record sweeping victories in future elections in the State.

Simon Lalong, the immediate past governor of Plateau state, in his speech commended party members for their loyalty and resilience, urging them to remain steadfast while dismissing fears over recent political developments as unfounded.
