The Nigerian Affiliation of Resident Medical doctors (NARD) has initiated a nationwide seven-day warning strike. Dr. Dele Abdullahi, NARD President, introduced on Sunday that the strike would begin at midnight on Monday, August 26, 2024.
Dr. Abdullahi revealed that they made this determination in the course of the Emergency Nationwide Govt Council assembly. “The strike is beginning at midnight as we speak. It would final for seven days, serving as a warning strike, and it is going to be complete,” he acknowledged.
Purpose For The Protest
The strike is a protest in opposition to the kidnapping of Dr Ganiyat Popoola, a registrar within the Division of Ophthalmology on the Nationwide Eye Centre in Kaduna, alongside along with her husband and nephew on December 27, 2023. Whereas her husband was launched in March, Dr. Popoola and her nephew stay in captivity.
