The 2023 class of governors in Nigeria is nothing to write home about. No charisma, performance and aura, apart from Enugu & Abia governors in the area of performance. Presidents used to fear governors, but it’s not like that again. This set of governors has made governorship less of what it should be. Governors Forum is now a mere village social club. It’s existing in absence.
The class of 1999-2007 had governors like Donald Duke, Orji Kalu, Ayo Fayose, Lucky Igbinedion, Peter Odili, James Ibori, Peter Obi, Chimaroke Nnamani, Dieprieye Alamiyesegha, Bola Tinubu, Chris Ngige, etc who dared the Presidency. Sam Egwu resisted Senate President Anyim Pius in 2003 and stopped him from getting second tenure as Anyim was also against his reelection, but lost out.
The class of 2015 had Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, Godwin Obaseki, etc who dared federal might. The present set is just tissue paper. They’re now plunging Nigeria into a one-party state. Ministers and Senators now fight and defeat them. But I’m happy they’ll not determine the voting pattern of 2027 if INEC which is an annexure of the APC would conduct elections. The same goes for the present National Assembly members. If Tinubu chooses to perpetuate himself in the presidency, this crop of National Assembly members will give it to him with ease. While Femi Gbaja mans the executive, Akpabio Godswill is the legislature, while Wike Ezebunwo is the Judiciary. They’ve drawn the graph of 2027 and are already in 2027 waiting for the actual dates of (s)election. They are now contemplating whether or not to use voter cards for accreditation during the 2027 selection process.
Buhari is more democratic than Tinubu. I wonder if it was this same mentality that Tinubu used in allegedly fighting for democracy in 1993? Judiciary had never been this political in the past. National Assembly wasn’t this feeble. INEC wasn’t this ridiculous except for 2007. Police is now a personal estate of the APC. The military are now inspirational speakers, appointing generals from a league that hasn’t led any successful onslaught against insurgency. Buhari despite his obvious faux pas was more democratic. His nepotism was softer than the one of Tinubu now. And the PDP that was supposed to provide opposition is rather in deep imagination and seems not to see that day has broken. The National Working Committee of PDP is a selfish group polarized along factions. The national publicity secretary, a supposed journalist gleefully campaigned for Seyi Makinde’s 2027 presidential bid using the party’s official Facebook page. What a calamity! PDP is a despicable opposition political party and some of us are dismayed by this turn of events in PDP. This is not what a national party of note should look like. The party is wailing on top of its voice and looking for respite from people like us who’ll never be given platforms to reposition it.
They always Visits every event’s Abroad but don’t visit Nigeria 🇳🇬 markets .
God forbid. Akpabio, the male olosho and corrupt rubber stamper doesn’t have a place in our holy papal’s funeral.
Akpabio😮God forbid bad thing😢🙏
