Nico O’Reilly scored twice as Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-0 in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley, ending the Gunners’ hopes of a historic quadruple.
The full-back struck twice within four second-half minutes, both headers, to seal City’s ninth League Cup and hand Pep Guardiola a record fifth triumph in the competition.

It was a painful afternoon for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, whose decision to start Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of first-choice David Raya backfired.
Kepa was at fault for the opener on the hour mark, spilling Rayan Cherki’s cross for O’Reilly to head home. The defender struck again moments later, powering in Matheus Nunes’ cross at the far post as Guardiola sprinted down the touchline in celebration.
The defeat extends Arsenal’s wait for silverware since their 2020 FA Cup triumph, despite their strong push on multiple fronts this season.
Man City, meanwhile, bounced back from their recent Champions League exit against Real Madrid to claim a crucial trophy, with Guardiola celebrating his 15th major honour at the club.
The victory also marked City’s first win over Arsenal since 2023 and could serve as momentum in their pursuit of the Premier League leaders.
While Arsenal remain in contention for the league title and are still alive in both the FA Cup and Champions League, this defeat represents a major setback in their bid for a historic campaign.
