JUST IN: The Only Person I Knew Was IK Osakioduwa And I Didn’t Really Know Him, I Just Loved His Work – Abdul

Media personality Ria Abdul recently revealed how her connection with Nigerian broadcaster IK Osakioduwa played a key role in helping her begin a career in the country’s media industry.

During a conversation on the show hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Ria explained that before relocating to Nigeria, the only person she could say she had any form of connection with was IK Osakioduwa. However, she clarified that their relationship was not personal at the time, as she only knew him through social media.

According to her, she had long admired the media personality’s work and often followed his activities online. Out of admiration, she eventually sent him a direct message on Instagram to express how much she appreciated what he was doing in the media space.

Ria said things changed after she eventually moved to Nigeria. She attended one of IK’s live shows, where she had the opportunity to meet him in person for the first time. During their conversation, she introduced herself and spoke about her own experience and interest in media.

She recalled that IK immediately showed confidence in her abilities after hearing her speak. Not long after their meeting, he recommended her for an opportunity at News Central TV.

Ria explained that the recommendation opened the door for her, but she still had to go through the station’s official recruitment process. After attending the interview, she was eventually offered the job, marking the beginning of her professional journey in the Nigerian media industry.

Speaking about the experience, she said:

“The only person I knew was IK Osakioduwa, though we didn’t actually know each other personally. I simply admired his work and sent him a DM telling him that I loved what he was doing. When I arrived in Nigeria, I went to one of his shows and explained what I do. After hearing me speak, he said I was good. He later recommended me for a role at News Central TV. I went for the interview and ended up getting the job.”
