While I want to agree that for some reasons governments at all levels haven’t done responsibly enough to quench this insecurity, Northern leaders need to wake up and look for solution internally beyond politics and rhetorics. It was an homegrown and self inflicted political summersault before taking international dimension that is now threatening the entire Sahel.
Sad to say that I do not see any political leaders – either Tinubu or Trump – solving the endemic culturally compounded complex insecurity. At best, they will position themselves for the optics. North needs to lead from the front to muster enough support across the globe!

All these problems started when former Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Yerima, introduced Sharia in his State which was later replicated by other States in the North. Since these States prioritised Islamic Religion over proper western education, Boko Haram took a foot hold. Today Yerima is enjoying as a Senator but the monster which he created has sadly metastasized so destructively.
