Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are interested in signing Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate as a free agent in the summer transfer window, according to Sports Boom. Konate is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, and as it stands, no new deal is in place.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with Konate. Los Blancos want to sign at least one new central defender in the summer of 2026, with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba both out of contract at Estadio Bernabeu at the end of the season.
Sports Boom has reported that ‘the money men tasked with growing the Saudi Pro League are also interested in tabling an offer, believing that hiring a player of Konate’s standing and calibre would help raise the competition’s profile and change the perception it can only attract those nearing the end of their careers.’
The report has added: ‘Although pursuing a bid would be difficult given the conflict in the region, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which effectively bankrolls the SPL, are confident that the financial packages they are capable of tabling means they will still prove an attractive destination this summer.’
