A British Airways flight from Washington, DC, to London was compelled to make an emergency touchdown Saturday due to a hen strike that left smoke pouring into the cabin.

Flight 216 took off from Dulles Worldwide Airport simply after 5:30 p.m. and diverted to Boston Logan Worldwide Airport about two hours later “after the crew reported a doable hen strike and fumes within the cabin,” the Federal Aviation Administration instructed CBS Information.

Massachusetts Port Authority later confirmed to the community {that a} “hen was struck” and that the aircraft landed safely.

Engineers had been anticipated to examine the Boeing 777, a spokesperson for BA mentioned.
