The board of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC) has appointed James Makinde as its new managing director, following the statutory retirement of Effiong Okon, effective April 20, 2026.

Makinde takes over leadership of the incorporated joint venture between NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy, which operates the 300 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) ANOH gas processing plant.

Prior to his appointment, he served as general manager, gas business at Seplat Energy, bringing over two decades of industry experience spanning project management, asset management, gas commercialisation, and strategy.

Makinde has held multiple roles across the oil and gas value chain, including gas market development, gas-to-power solutions, renewable energy, and investment portfolio management.

He previously worked with Shell, where his last role was West Africa business development manager at Shell New Energies (now Emerging Market Power), contributing to the company’s expansion into renewable and power investments across Africa.

A recognised voice in Nigeria’s gas sector, Makinde has served as chairman of the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) Gas Sub-committee and as a non-executive director of the Gas Aggregator Company of Nigeria.

He holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, and a master’s degree in offshore and ocean technology (subsea pipelines engineering) from Cranfield University, UK.

His appointment comes as AGPC transitions into full commercial operations, with expectations that leadership continuity will support the company’s role in advancing Nigeria’s gas infrastructure and supply to domestic and export markets.
