AC Milan want Luka Modric to extend his stay at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Modric joined Milan in the summer of 2025 on a free transfer following his departure from Real Madrid after 13 seasons at Estadio Bernabeu.
The Croatian midfielder signed a one-year deal with Milan, with the option to extend it by another 12 months.
The 40-year-old has been one of Milan’s best players this season, scoring two goals and giving three assists in 28 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A.
Well-known and well-respected Italian journalist Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Milan are already making an attempt to extend his contract.
“They’re leaving everything in Luka Modric’s hands: he’ll have to decide whether to continue.
“The club are courting him to stay together and let him play in the Champions League with Milan, which is something that tempts and intrigues the player.
“It’s not just Allegri and the management who are involved. His team-mates are also involved: but Modric will have to decide.
“Milan are giving it their all, waiting for a definitive response from Modric. The courtship is underway.”
