Rivers Meeting: Ehie declares seats of 27 defected lawmakers vacant

The Rivers State Home of Meeting has declared the seats of the 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Get together, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, vacant.

The seats have been declared vacant by the Speaker of the Home, Edison Ehie.

The Speaker made the announcement on Wednesday throughout a sitting on the non permanent corridor offered by the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Ehie, in a agency and resolute tone, emphasised that there is no such thing as a battle throughout the PDP that warrants defection of any lawmaker within the Home.

He mentioned the choice to declare the seats vacant was in keeping with part 109 (1) (g) and a pair of of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

He referred to as on the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, to conduct contemporary elections to fill the vacant seats, asserting the necessity for the rightful illustration of the individuals.

He mentioned, “Distinguished colleagues, the Home will duly inform the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee of the vacancies within the Rivers State Home of Meeting and certainly, to conduct a contemporary election to fill the above vacancies.”

The 27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, have been absent at Wednesday’s sitting.
