The Convoy of the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was on Saturday blocked and attacked by gunmen alleged by the state authorities to be supporters of a rival political occasion.
The incident which occurred at about 12.30 hours left many individuals injured.
In line with a press release issued by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Info and Communications, the assault happened close to the Naval Base, few kilometres from Lokoja.
Fanwo famous that the convoy alleged to be that of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, having sighted that of the Governor and allegedly blocked the highway and armed thugs began capturing sporadically on the convoy of the Governor.
The assertion reads: “A Tundra branded with the brand of the SDP and with SDP flags additionally blocked the Governor’s car and occupants of the SDP branded Tundra have been armed with Rifles and brief weapons. The Governor left the scene unscathed and there’s no trigger for panic because the Governor is in excessive spirit.
