United Television (UTV) Ghana has been taken to the cleaners by offended followers after hyping up a brand new Black Sherif lookalike who’s popped up on-line.
The lookalike was at a program held by the tv station over the weekend, UTV Day with the Stars, performing a few of Black Sherif’s songs to a crowd.
Blue Sherif, as followers dubbed him, carried out two of the artist’s singles, Konongo Zongo and his verse on Sarkodie’s Nation Aspect.
The video was posted by UTV with the caption: “Who do we’ve got right here ? #UTVDayWithTheStars”
Followers have been pissed off {that a} tv station as prestigious as UTV have been giving free publicity to a lookalike of a star who was ripping off his songs.
Not too long ago, the difficulty of those lookalikes popping up and performing the songs of hardworking artistes for their very own profit has reared its ugly head.
Indignant followers attacked UTV for contributing to that problem.
“How l want Blue Sherif will likely be sue[d] together with that [Despite] media… this nonsense should cease. They shouldn’t entertain low key look alike biaaa,” a netizen wrote.
