French air accident investigators have been deployed to Tanzania to research a passenger plane crash that killed no fewer than 19 individuals on Sunday.

A spokesperson for France’s BEA air accident investigation company stated on Monday that it despatched a group to Tanzania and technical advisers from Franco-Italian planemaker ATR, which constructed the ATR 42-500 turboprop.

The prime minister and airline stated no fewer than 19 individuals died when the aircraft crashed into Lake Victoria in Tanzania on Sunday whereas attempting to land at a close-by airport.

Flight PW494, operated by Precision Air, hit the water throughout storms and heavy rain, state Tanzania Broadcasting Company (TBC) reported.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa stated investigators had launched a probe into what had occurred.
