Metropolis Energy Johannesburg has scheduled a deliberate energy outage that’s set to have an effect on 18 suburbs within the metropolis on Saturday, 17 Might 2025 from 8:00 to 14:30.

POWER OUTAGE DUE TO MAINTENANCE WORK

The facility outage is because of upkeep work that the ability utility repeatedly does on its electrical energy community.

ESKOM IMPOLEMENTS STAGE-2 LOAD SHEDDING

Eskom has applied stage-2 load shedding which is able to run from 16:00 on Tuesday, 13 Might 2025, to 22:00 on Thursday, 15 Might 2025.

The facility utility said that the implementation of load shedding is because of a restricted era capability that was attributable to a delay in return of era items amounting to over 3 000MW.

Moreover, there was a lack of over 1 300MW resulting from unplanned breakdowns.

“The first purpose for this setback is the delay in returning a number of items from deliberate upkeep. These delays, coupled with an unplanned capability loss that has now quickly exceeded 13 000MW, align with the chance of situations shared in our Winter 2025 Outlook,” defined Eskom.

Regardless of present pressures, Eskom assures that the system is in a stronger place when in comparison with earlier winters.
