Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi just sealed a transfer to Besiktas after a summer filled with speculations about his future

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will play for a club other than Leicester City for the first time in eight years, as he is expected to make his debut for Besiktas in their Turkish Super Lig opener against Eyupspor on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ndidi joined Leicester City from Belgian Jupiler Pro League club Gent in 2017. At the time he joined the club, they were still struggling to find a suitable defensive midfielder after N’Golo Kante left for Chelsea.

However, he got in and stabilized things in that position. The Super Eagles star was a consistent performer for the club despite different injury problems.

Unfortunately for Ndidi, Leicester have been very unstable in recent years, jumping between the Premier League and the Championship.

The club just got relegated last season, and that opened the door for Ndidi to leave. He was linked to many clubs in England and outside England, but he ultimately chose to move to Turkish giants Besiktas.

The deal was completed last week, but Ndidi could not make it in time for Besiktas’ UEFA Conference League qualifiers against St Patricks.

But ahead of their Super Lig opener against Eyupsor, Ajanshaber1903 reports that Ndidi will be part of the team and could even start.

This is not a surprise, as Ndidi had a full pre-season at Leicester City before making his transfer, so he us fully fit and ready to go.

How Wilfred Ndidi Can Help Besiktas

Under coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Besiktas have built a reputation for conceding a lot of needless goals. This season, that has continued.

But with Wilfred Ndidi now at the club, that would reduce due to his impressive work rate and discipline. The Super Eagles midfielder is very strong on the ball and is a fine tackler.

With the addition of Ndidi’s qualities, Besiktas will like concede less goals. The Super Eagles star can also pop in with a goal or two.

Perhaps, he will help them put up a better fight for the Super Lig title this season.
