The Division of State Companies (DSS) has offered an evidence for its presence on the Lagos State Home of Meeting. The company said that it was there to supply safety providers, to not take management of the Meeting. This comes after considerations had been raised concerning the sealing of the places of work of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
The DSS emphasised that its involvement was on the request of the Lagos State Home of Meeting. In keeping with a press release launched by the DSS, the Meeting had despatched a proper request on February 14, 2025, asking for safety reinforcement.
This request was based mostly on credible threats that there have been plans to unlawfully reinstate the impeached Speaker on February 18, which may compromise the protection of the members and disrupt the Meeting’s operations.
The request detailed in a letter from the Performing Clerk of the Meeting, Mr. A.T.B. Ottun, particularly requested for an elevated safety presence beginning February 16, to make sure thorough monitoring and management of entry factors across the Meeting premises.
The DSS reassured the general public that its actions had been strictly in response to this request, geared toward guaranteeing security and order inside the Meeting grounds as per the lawmakers’ needs.
