Orlando Pirates need to sign Peter Shalulile next season if they are serious about competing in the CAF Champions League.

This season has highlighted the team’s lack of a quality forward to finish off the chances created. If it weren’t for poor finishing, the Soweto giants would still be in the Champions League and potentially leading the league table by at least four points or more.
A striker like Shalulile could effectively address Orlando Pirates’ goalscoring issues. The Namibian forward has scored six goals in 20 matches for Mamelodi Sundowns, and with his contract ending at the end of the season, a move away from Chloorkop seems likely.
Reasons why Pirates need Shalulile
Both Yanela Mbuthuma and Evidence Makgopa have struggled to score this season. In crucial matches, the duo has failed to deliver, which has frustrated some fans.
The departure of Tshegofatso Mabasa has raised concerns, especially since the 29-year-old forward was regarded as the team’s clinical striker.
While the Buccaneers may consider signing a foreign striker after the season, there is no guarantee that this new player will solve their problems in front of goal.
On the other hand, Shalulile has already proven his worth at Highlands Park and Sundowns, making a move to Pirates likely to succeed.
At 32, he still has a good two years ahead of him where he can score plenty of goals.
