Galatasaray have turned to their loyal supporters to help bankroll the sensational €75 million signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen this week completed his move from Napoli to Galatasaray in a deal that has shattered Turkish football’s transfer record.

In a bid to ease financial pressures stemming from a summer spending spree that includes Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sané, the Istanbul club has launched a specially curated Osimhen fan box.

Retailing at €215, the collector’s edition features a limited-edition jersey, the forward’s trademark face mask, a commemorative scarf, and access to exclusive digital content via QR code, according to Eurosport.

Ten thousand units have already been snapped up by enthusiastic fans, generating over €2 million in revenue within days. With a total print run of 100,000 boxes, the club stands to make €21.5 million which interestingly matches Osimhen’s reported annual salary.

At a press conference on Friday, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek defended the club’s financial strategy amid mounting questions about sustainability.

“There is a cost and a method of payment,” he said. “This transfer was planned in detail. The payment structure is clear, and the club’s financial health is stable.”

The club has already committed over €90 million in transfer fees this summer, with Sané’s yearly wage estimated at €12 million.

Despite Turkey ranking ninth in UEFA’s league coefficients and lacking Premier League-style TV deals or Gulf-state backing, Özbek insisted the club is operating responsibly.

Galatasaray are banking on a combination of robust merchandising, matchday revenues, and sponsorships to balance the books. The club reportedly earned €85 million from shirt sales last season and projects total commercial revenue at around €150 million which far eclipses domestic broadcast rights worth only €18 million.

“The fans are our biggest investors,” said Özbek. “We call on them again to fill the stadium and support this team. Every Osimhen box purchased is a contribution to writing history.”

The Nigerian star, alongside Sané, was unveiled in front of tens of thousands of fans during a friendly match against Lazio on Saturday evening.

Osimhen did not feature in the match which saw compatriot Fisayo Dele-Bashiru impress for Lazio as the two teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

The 2025-26 Super Lig season kicks off this weekend with Galatasaray set to open their campaign with an away trip to Gaziantep on Friday, August 8.
