WEATHER: Wet and windy weekend forecast

Stormy weather is expected in the North West Province and the Free State this weekend. The South African Weather Service has also issued warnings for parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

KWAZULU-NATAL

It will be a wet weekend in KZN. A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms, with heavy downpours and possible strong, damaging winds over the extreme north-eastern parts of the province.

DURBAN

The coast between Plettenberg Bay and Durban has a Yellow Level 1 warning in place. Damaging winds could result in localised damage to settlements and temporary structures on Saturday. Sunday is expected to be overcast, with temperatures ranging between 20 and 21 degrees.

NORTH WEST

The North West will be cloudy with morning fog patches in some areas. The rest of the weekend will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts, becoming scattered in the extreme north-east.

MAHIKENG

Saturday in Mahikeng will be cloudy with morning fog patches, otherwise partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers. Temperatures will range between 16 and 29 degrees. On Sunday, light rain is expected, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 26 degrees.

FREE STATE

The Free State will be cloudy with morning fog patches in places. Conditions will become partly cloudy later, with cool to warm temperatures and showers over the central and eastern parts of the province.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein will be cloudy with morning fog patches on Saturday, becoming partly cloudy later, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 23 degrees. Sunday will be partly cloudy, with a low of 13 and a high of 26 degrees.
