Afrigather On Tuesday, November 28, there was a heated altercation between Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the minister of communications, and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.
This happened following the Minister of Commerce’s repeated makes an attempt to introduce the contentious Import Restrictions Invoice, which goals to present the Commerce Ministry the authority to approve or prohibit the importation of a selected checklist of products.
The Speaker’s order was questioned by Ursula, the MP for Ablekuma West, significantly in mild of the Minority in Parliament’s objections to the Invoice’s laying.
She believed that nothing earlier than the home warranted this type of opposition.

“I don’t know on what we’re debating on this home at present. There may be nothing earlier than the home in order you [Speaker of Parliament] indicated to the Minister [of Trade, KT Hammond] that we aren’t but there, I used to be of the opinion that you’d inform my colleagues on the opposite aspect that there’s nothing earlier than us.” Ursula mentioned.
The Speaker, not happy with the state of affairs, reprimanded her and instructed her to return to her seat. He warned her that going ahead, the house wouldn’t settle for such conduct.
“Minister, do you actually hearken to your self when you’re speaking? If you happen to had been right here from the very starting earlier than we began, why did you say no, once I requested in the event you had been right here from the start… This isn’t the Ministry of Communications, that is Parliament. Resume your seat.” Speaker of Parliament retorted.
The video has since induced a stir on social media. Some folks consider the Speaker was too harsh on Ursula Owusu whereas others praised him for placing her in her place.
