UPDATED: Four dead, missing general found after fresh terrorist raid in Borno

Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Friday night ambushed and killed four people including two soldiers while a serving Nigerian Army general was forcefully abducted by the terrorists group in Damboa local government area of southern Borno State, sources said.

The Brigadier General has now returned to base. He returned around 10am this morning.

BusinesDay learnt that a Nigerian military convoy came under heavy attacks, before the assailants abducted the general in Sabon Gari–Wajiroko axis along Damboa/Biu road.

Our Correspondent gathered that the terrorists fired rocket-propelled explosives and gun to break the military formation, leading to the withdrawal of troops from the location.

“All is not well. Our brigade commander has been abducted in the attack at Wajiroko yesterday and his whereabouts is unknown as we speaks,” a source had said earlier.

“We lost four people including two soldier and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force who were on patrol with us.”

Another source had claimed that a brigadier general was also abducted, saying, “Many soldiers are yet to return to their base, including a brigadier general and other officers.”

The source added that 16 motorcycles and ammunition was carted away in the ambushed.
