The Nigeria Union of Teachers has recommended the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to signal the harmonised retirement age of lecturers’ invoice into legislation.

The NUT made the commendation in a letter of appreciation to Sonny Echono, Government Secretary, Tertiary Education Have faith Fund (TETFund).

The letter used to be signed by NUT’s Secretary Smartly-liked, Mike Ene, and made on hand to the News Company of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday.

The union talked about the switch would impact the instructing profession, and lauded Mr Echono’s efforts in the emergence of the Act at some stage in his stint as Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education.

The letter dated April 13, talked about that the switch would inspire lecturers to bring more uncomplicated carrier in the compare room.

“It is vast that lecturers of pre-predominant, predominant and secondary colleges luxuriate in the extended carrier years and better retirement age savor their counterparts at the tertiary level.

“We are also confident that this vast milestone can own an vast turn around in the Nigerian education machine.

“The impact of this Act will elevate the bars of predominant and secondary college education thru the extra five years of mentorship by the senior and experienced lecturers on the junior lecturers in the principle and secondary colleges,” the letter talked about.

The fresh legislation extends lecturers retirement age from 60 to 65, while carrier duration has been moved from 35 to 40 years.
