UNDP launches N200m fund for 420 MSMEs in Bayelsa

The United Nations Improvement Programme (UNDP) has introduced N200 million in funding to 420 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bayelsa State.

In response to a press release, UNDP stated this initiative in collaboration with the European Union is geared toward empowering companies and mitigating socioeconomic challenges.

Governor Douye Diri throughout a ceremony held on the Authorities Home in Yenagoa, introduced a cheque to Joyce Oboro, chief of the UNDP delegation symbolising his assist.

“This administration had already launched into vital initiatives, together with coaching and empowering Bayelsa’s with starter packs and month-to-month grants of N200,000 to 420 small enterprise homeowners throughout the state’s 105 wards,” he stated.

The governor assured the UNDP delegation of the state’s dedication to the partnership, citing a shared imaginative and prescient of prosperity for Bayelsans. He recognised the UNDP’s earlier assist through the 2022 flood disaster, highlighting the organisation’s longstanding friendship with Bayelsa State.

“For us as an administration, our mantra has been shared prosperity,” Governor Diri acknowledged. “Our individuals need to prosper in all facets of their lives. So we’re grateful to fulfill development-oriented organisations like yours.”

Diri emphasised the significance of capability constructing and mentorship in MSME improvement, reiterating the federal government’s dedication to nurturing native companies for sustainable development.

“Whereas infrastructure is important, investing in human capital is paramount to successfully handle and maximise its advantages,” he stated.
