Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, have received a cash reward of N4.5 million from Remo Stars and Beyond Limits Football Club proprietor, Hon. Kunle Soname, following their emphatic victory over Guinea in the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Soname had pledged N750,000 for every goal scored by the Flamingos in the second-leg encounter and fulfilled his promise after the Nigerian girls recorded a resounding 6-0 victory in Ikenne.

The Flamingos had already taken firm control of the tie with a commanding 5-0 win in the first leg in Abidjan before completing an 11-0 aggregate triumph to advance to the third and final qualifying round.

Flamingos Run Riot in Ikenne

Backed by home support, the Flamingos delivered another dominant performance from start to finish.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the ninth minute, converting a precise cross from Queen Joseph. Captain Harmony Chidi doubled Nigeria’s advantage with a superb long-range strike.

The pressure continued as Queen Joseph got on the scoresheet in the 23rd minute before Adegbuyi headed home her second goal of the match in the 32nd minute.

Two minutes later, Chidi grabbed her second goal of the afternoon to put the Flamingos firmly in control before halftime.

Substitute Precious Oscar completed the rout in the 70th minute, netting Nigeria’s sixth goal to cap another outstanding display.

Final Qualifying Round Awaits

The comprehensive victory secured an 11-0 aggregate win for the Flamingos, who now move into the third and final round of the qualification series.

Nigeria will face Benin Republic for a place at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup as the Flamingos continue their quest to return to the global tournament.
