Two-time Czech Champion tips Nigeria to defeat Jamaica in Unity Cup final

Two-time Czech Champion with Slavia Prague, Igoh Ogbu, has revealed what the Super Eagles of Nigeria must do to avoid defeat against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in the 2026 Unity Cup final, Soccernet.ng reports.

Femi Azeez scored a brace in the semi-final against Zimbabwe for Eric Chelle’s men at Charlton Athletic’s Valley Ground on Wednesday.

Their final opponents, Jamaica, needed goals from Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon to defeat India. Ahead of the final, Ogbu, who played 90 minutes against Zimbabwe, has warned his teammates against complacency.

Unity Cup: Igoh Ogbu states how Nigeria can defeat Jamaica

Quizzed about his experience against Zimbabwe by Footy Africa, the 10-cap Super Eagles defender said:

“It was a very tough game, especially in the second half, but we thank God for the victory. It was not easy at all

“It went well in the end. The boys did well, they pushed hard and now we have to enjoy the win and focus on the next game.”

Looking ahead to the final against the Reggae Boyz on Saturday, the ex-Lillestrom SK defender urged his teammates to remain calm when the game starts, and victory will be assured.

“We have to keep our heads straight, keep working hard and continue doing our best because it is a privilege to play for Nigeria.

“Now that we are in the final, we understand what we need to do.

“We will recover and prepare well because the reason we came here is to win and retain the title,” Ogbu concluded.

The final against India will be played at Charlton’s the Valley Stadium, and kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
