Three die in Niger army helicopter crash

Three individuals died on Monday when a Nigerien army helicopter crashed on return from a routine coaching flight, the defence ministry stated.

The accident occurred when the Russian-built Mi-17 crashed because it was touchdown at a army base at Niamey airport.

“Sadly, all three crewmembers – a Nigerien officer and NCO and an expatriate teacher – died instantly regardless of efforts by rescue companies to place out the fireplace,” it stated in an announcement.

An investigation has been launched, the assertion stated.
