The Super Eagles camp officially opened in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday, ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations preparatory fixture against the Egyptian national team on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to a notification from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)’s media team, the Super Eagles camp opened at the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo on Saturday, and the first player to arrive was goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
The last time the Super Eagles were gathered for the CAF World Cup playoffs, the issue of their accommodation in Rabat became a major talking point.

Ahead of their game, midfielder Alex Iwobi shared a video of a section of the surroundings of their hotel — The Rive Hotel — followed by a funny expression, which many interpreted as a sign of discomfort with the hotel arrangement.

That incident caused a significant outcry within the Nigerian football ecosystem, resulting in the NFF receiving widespread criticism.
However, Iwobi later clarified that he was not attempting to criticize the NFF. Videos of the hotel also subsequently emerged, confirming it was a decent enough facility for the team.
