Falling to a 2-0 loss in Catalonia last weekend and forced to watch as arch-rivals Barcelona officially defended their La Liga crown, Real Madrid find themselves at the heart of a public soap opera.
Once again signing off the 2025/26 campaign without a single piece of silverware to show for their troubles, Los Blancos are also dealing with a string of high-profile issues behind the scenes.
With Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde both fined €500,000 following a pair of fiery training ground altercations, leading marksman and French superstar Kylian Mbappe has also come under serious recent scrutiny from the Madrid supporters.
With continued links that former boss Jose Mourinho could be set for a blockbuster return to the Bernabeu, Madrid are preparing for what is a seismic summer behind the scenes.
No secret that the Madrid hierarchy are planning for a major overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, it appears that Los Blancos are keen on pushing a number of their big-name stars out of the exit.
David Alaba
While David Alaba might be set to sign off his fifth consecutive campaign in the Spanish capital this month, the Austrian skipper has become one of Los Blancos’ forgotten superstars and it is no surprise that the Madrid hierarchy are unwilling to offer the 33-year-old a new deal.
Enduring what has become a major injury nightmare over the past two seasons and drastically failing to find any kind of stability, the former Bayern Munich defender is set to leave Madrid as a free agent when his contract expires this summer.
Along with making just 15 La Liga appearances over the past two campaigns, he has also remarkably featured in less than 1000 minutes of domestic action.
Likewise, despite returning from yet another injury set-back prior to March’s international break, Alaba has only got 18 minutes of La Liga action under his belt over the past two-and-a-half months.
With both parties long since accepting that a move away from the Bernabeu is best, the 111-cap international isn’t short of heavyweight European interest.
Despite his extended injury issues over the past 24 months, it has been reported that Italian giants Juventus are weighing up a free transfer swoop and Alaba’s representatives have already held talks in Turin this month.

Eduardo Camavinga
Shown a Champions League quarter-final red card against Bayern Munich last month after being on the pitch for less than half an hour, Real Madrid supporters have certainly aired their frustrations with Eduardo Camavinga.
Although the French international might have gained a reputation for his versatility since arriving at the Bernabeu as an 18-year-old sensation back in the summer of of 2021, he has largely struggled to live up to his billing as a generational talent.
Failing to hold down a regular spot in Madrid’s starting XI, it has been heavily suggested over the past few months that Madrid are actively looking to move the 29-cap international on after what has been an underwhelming campaign.
Reportedly set to miss out on France’s World Cup squad this summer, it feels that the 23-year-old finds himself at a career crossroads.
With CaughtOffside reporting last month that the Madrid hierarchy would be willing to accept an offer in the region of €50million, Camavinga’s current deal runs until the summer of 2029 and Los Blancos feel that this is the perfect time to cash in.
While it might have been suggested that the former Rennes youngster is keen on fighting for his place, Madrid are actively searching for a new central midfielder this summer and minutes will once again be hard to come by next season.

Antonio Rudiger
Although Antonio Rudiger might have cemented his spot as Real Madrid’s preferred central defender this calendar year, the German international has major questions marks over his future.
Alongside the high-profile altercation between Tchouameni and Valverde, the 33-year-old has been at the centre of his own teammate feud behind the scenes.
With Portuguese youngster Alvaro Carreras appearing to confirm on social media that the duo had indeed come to blows this month, it has been suggested that Madrid are unwilling to offer Rudiger a significant new deal.
With his current contract at the Bernabeu set to expire, talks have been held over a one-year renewal as Madrid have mounting concerns over his fitness ahead of next season.
However, already tasting both domestic and European success since arriving from Chelsea four years ago, the likes of Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray have formally expressed their interest.
Likewise, alongside Juventus’ reported interested in Alaba, it has been suggested that the Old Lady have already enquired over a potential move for the ex-Chelsea star and Luciano Spalletti has identified Rudiger as his number one summer target.
#Juventus have asked info for Toni #Rudiger. Luciano #Spalletti and the centre-back are in a very good relationship since they were at AS Roma. Two Premier League and Saudi Clubs are also at the window, if he leaves #RealMadrid at the end of the season as a free agent. #transfers
