“Tremendous Eagles carry our hopes” – Governor Sanwo-olu happy to host AFCON trophy in Lagos

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, warmly acquired the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy on the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Soccernet.ng reviews.

Delighted to have the continent’s most prestigious trophy land in Nigeria’s financial capital, Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a press release, emphasised town’s dedication to sports activities growth.

Twenty-four groups will collect in Ivory Coast subsequent month to compete for the AFCON trophy presently being held by reigning champions Senegal.

Forward of the thirty fourth version of the continental championships, the AFCON trophy is presently on a tour of main African cities, and it landed in Lagos on Friday.

Expressing gratitude for Lagos being chosen as a cease on the AFCON trophy tour, Governor Sanwo-Olu credited town’s vibrant sports activities tradition for this honour.

By way of a press release posted on X (previously Twitter), Gov. Sanwo-olu thanked Visa and the Confederation of African Soccer (CAF) for choosing Lagos, underscoring the state’s unwavering dedication to sports activities development.

“The AFCON trophy is an emblem of continental pleasure and excellence. The Tremendous Eagles carry our hopes, and I consider of their potential to clinch victory. With correct preparation and dedication, we’re poised to shine on the worldwide stage, ” the assertion reads partly.

“As Lagos State hosts the AFCON trophy, it’s a transparent testomony to our dedication to sports activities growth. We’re a metropolis pulsating with sports activities enthusiasm, and we’re grateful to Visa and CAF for selecting Lagos for the trophy tour.”

Acknowledging the AFCON trophy as an emblem of continental pleasure and excellence, the governor conveyed confidence within the Tremendous Eagles, expressing perception of their potential to safe victory.

He highlighted the significance of correct preparation and dedication for the workforce to shine on the worldwide stage.

“Past being a world spectacle, AFCON embodies the spirit of our native skills. I urge CAF to infuse indigenous expertise and experience, thereby enriching the competition,” Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted, underscoring Lagos’ dedication to nurturing homegrown soccer expertise and sustaining the zeal for sports activities.

Three-time African champions Nigeria shall be among the many favourites to rule Africa once more.

The Tremendous Eagles have been drawn in Group A along with hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea.
