Displaying signs of a strong start under Thomas Frank, Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur were two goals up (Micky van de Ven 39′, Cristian Romero 48′) against Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday as the contest entered what should’ve been it’s final six minutes.

However, that’s when the game suddenly turned the other way as Lee Kang-in reduced PSG’s deficit, and Goncalo Ramos scored a 94th-minute equalizer.

The contest thus went to penalties, and Spurs again had the upper hand as Dominic Solanke scored the first one for the North Londoners and Vitinha failed to do so for the Ligue 1 champions. But then Van de Ven and Mathys Tel wasted their penalties and enabled Nuno Mendes to seal the trophy for PSG.
