Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo could leave Southampton in the January transfer window for a discounted fee, Soccernet.ng reports.

It has been a torrid last five months for Aribo, as he has been on the fringes at Southampton. After the club got relegated from the English Premier League, he was expected to leave, especially since he had one year left on his contract.

However, despite links to several clubs, he failed to secure a move and had to remain at Southampton.

Unfortunately for him, things have not worked out well. He had to wait until Gameweek 13 before he even made his first appearance for the club.

Still, he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot. The 29-year-old midfielder has not played more than 30 minutes in any game for Southampton this season.

With just six months left until his contract at the club expires, Aribo is in a delicate situation. The two managers he has worked with—Will Still and Tonda Eckert—do not see him as an important member of the team.

As such, it is highly unlikely that they will offer him a contract extension.

Joe Aribo To Leave Southampton?

With Joe Aribo’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Southampton hierachy might be looking to cash in.

Who will leave Southampton in January?

Joe Aribo (29) – £1.5m

With his contract up in the summer, Aribo has already garnered attention from Turkey, with Trabzonspor and Göztepe both interested in the CM. Saints will hope for a larger fee, but £1-1.5m is realistic.

The Super Eagles star is valued at around €4 million on Transfermarkt. But since he’s not an important member of the squad and been playing regularly, they could let him go at a discounted price of €1.5 milion.

The Super Eagles star has previously been linked with Turkish Super Lig clubs Trabzonspor and Goztepe, and they would be licking their lips at getting Aribo at such a low fee.

The former Rangers talisman will also be looking to get more game time. So, if a good offer arrives, he will likely take it.
