Two former Mpumalanga municipal managers have been launched on R5000 bail after they have been arrested on Monday for contravening the Public Finance Administration Act (PFMA).

Theron Zwelishe Shongwe (47) and Thusi Hezekiel Kubheka (65) who have been employed by the Msukaligwa Municipality in Mpumalanga, have been arrested by the Hawks alongside the Municipality’s former group service supervisor, Masego Mmabatho Matsheka (51).

They appeared earlier than the Ermelo Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom on Monday after their arrest by the Nelspruit based mostly Hawks’ Critical Corruption Investigation staff for fraud, theft and contravention of the PFMA.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi mentioned: “It’s alleged that between 2014 and 2018, the previous municipality officers contravened the PFMA by promoting and exchanging the property belonging to the municipality which included the reservoir and the water pump which are supposed to serve the fundamental wants of the group. “
