Ms. Leber is a dedicated mental health counselor with The Counseling Group LLC. Since assuming this role in 2023, she has been committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, focusing on delivering high-quality therapeutic approaches tailored to her client’s individual needs. Her expertise in mental health therapy, domestic violence and women’s health has been instrumental in her ability to guide clients through crises, fostering resilience, navigating with clients through their healing journey, and being there for them.

As a teenager, Ms. Leber was deeply curious about human behavior and what drives differences in personality and actions. This curiosity led her to explore the writings of Sigmund Freud, which she found both fascinating and compelling. The more she read, the more she felt drawn to understand the complexities of the human mind. Combined with a strong desire to help others, this interest ultimately led her to pursue a career in mental health counseling and psychotherapy.

Ms. Leber’s journey in the field of mental health began in Austria, where she worked in the department of clinical psychology and psychotherapy at the Brothers of Mercy Kainbach Mental Health Clinic from 1999 to 2007. She later became a family support worker at the Foster Parents Association of the State of Styria Foster Care Agency from 2005 to 2009 and a psychotherapist at the Save the Child Counseling Center from 2013 to 2014. These roles laid the foundation for her career in counseling and psychotherapy. While working at the Mental Health Clinic, Ms. Leber pursuit her undergraduate degree in education and her graduate degree in transactional psychotherapy after Eric Berne at the Institute for Transactional Psychotherapy in Graz.

After her husband’s job brought them to the United States, Ms. Leber gained additional experience in education and counseling. She was a teacher at The German School of Atlanta from 2015 to 2019 and concurrently served as a local coordinator for Academic Year in America.

In 2022, she contributed as a clinical mental health intern at The Counseling Group LLC before assuming her current role. Navigating through the challenges of adjusting and establishing a new life in a different culture made Ms. Leber realize how helpful her educational background was for her. Ms. Leber felt the strong desire to work in the mental health profession and decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in mental health counseling in the United States and get licensed in the State of Georgia.

Ms. Leber’s academic achievements have played a significant role in her professional success. She earned a Bachelor of Science in general psychology, following a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University in 2022. She is very proud of having earned these degrees in the U.S. and subsequently built a strong career in this country. Her dedication to education is also reflected in her induction into Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society, as well as her recognition on the President’s List and Dean’s List at Capella University.

Complementing her formal education, Ms. Leber’s certifications include being a National Certified Counselor and an Associate Professional Counselor License. Additionally, she holds specialized training in emotionally focused therapy, art therapy, and play therapy.

Furthering her expertise and professional network, Ms. Leber is actively involved with the American Counseling Association and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia. Looking ahead in her career, she aspires to engage in advocating for victims of intimate partner violence, offer counseling services to expat families who struggle to adjust to a new culture, homesickness, and maintain relationships with family and friends back home. Moreover, one of Ms. Leber’s goals is to raise money to be able to provide mental health services to those who cannot afford them or lack insurance but are in urgent need of support.

In her personal life, Ms. Leber enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, traveling across the United States and exploring different cultures and countries, cooking and gardening. She also dedicates time to civic engagements, contributing to The Sandwich Project, which supports homeless individuals by providing sandwiches prepared by volunteers.
