Sierra Leone has imposed a nationwide curfew after unidentified gunmen attacked a army barracks and tried to interrupt into an armoury in Freetown, the capital metropolis.
The order is contained in a press release by Chernor Bah, data and civic schooling minister, conveyed through https://statehouse.gov.sl on Sunday.
In line with Mr Bah, President Julius Bio declared a nationwide curfew following the safety breach on the army barracks in Freetown.
The minister quoted Mr Bio as reaffirming the federal government’s willpower to guard democracy and peace, including that safety forces have been in command of the scenario.
“Within the early hours of Sunday, some unidentified people tried to interrupt into the army armoury on the Wilberforce barracks. They’ve been rebuffed.
“A nationwide curfew has been declared with quick impact. We strongly advise residents to remain indoors,” he acknowledged.
The minister recalled that Mr Bio addressed the nation within the early hours of Sunday, alerting Sierra Leoneans of the safety breach in Freetown.
“Some unidentified people attacked the army armoury. Nevertheless, they have been repelled by our gallant safety forces, and calm has been restored.
“Because the mixed staff of our safety forces continues to route out the remnant of the fleeing renegades, a nationwide curfew has been declared, and residents are inspired to remain indoors.
“The peace of our beloved nation is priceless; we will proceed to guard the peace and safety of Sierra Leone towards the forces that want to truncate our much-cherished stability.
