Islamic group Shi’ites joined Christians at a Christmas service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Samaru, Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday to strengthen spiritual concord and unity between spiritual teams.

The chief of the Shi’ite group, Isah-Hassan Mshelgaru, stated it acknowledged Christmas as a day for festivities, friendliness and unity.

He added that becoming a member of the Christian devoted as they marked Christmas was meant to resume hope for divine unity amongst Muslims and different religions.

Mr Mshelgaru stated the group’s go to to the church for Christmas was to strengthen the connection between the 2 religion teams.

He famous that Islam and Christianity have been revered faiths, with greater than 90 per cent of Nigeria’s inhabitants as adherents.

“When different devoted unite with the 2 religion teams, it means the entire of Nigeria is united,’’ he stated.

Talking on the impression of the go to, Mr Mshelgaru stated that as a gaggle, it began visits to church buildings greater than 25 years in the past, and since then, there was improved understanding between the group and Christians.

“The go to has lowered the fears and a few animosities between the 2 religion teams. They (Christians) are actually open to us; we share sentiments and issues.

“The common change of visits has bridged the gaps between us,’’ he stated.

Earlier, the parish priest, Isak Augustine, recommended the Islamic group for the go to and urged the group to make extra visits to strengthen spiritual concord and unity.

He prayed for the peace of God to come back into Nigeria and to salvage the nation from myriad socio-economic challenges.

The Shi’ite group later introduced presents to the Catholic church.
