In the 58th minute of the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United on Saturday, United boss Ruben Amorim changed his team’s formation by introducing striker Benjamin Sesko for wing-back Noussair Mazraoui. However, a minute before the second-half stoppage time started, the Slovenia international was forced off with a knee injury, and with all five changes already made, the visitors had no choice but to finish the game with 10 men on the pitch.

Speaking to the press after the match, Amorim expressed great concern about the injury. There was, of course, no way of knowing its extent at that point, but as it was a knee problem, the Portuguese coach was obviously worried.

“I’m more concerned with an injury because it’s in the knee and I don’t know,” he said. “We need Ben to be a better team.”

Amorim has also hinted that, with Bryan Mbeumo set to represent Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations during the winter, if Sesko’s injury proves serious, the club might have no choice but to turn to the transfer market to strengthen their attacking options in January.
