This particular person portrayed themselves as a protected area — somebody I might speak in confidence to who made me really feel actually cared for. Out of nowhere, they advised me that I used to be a burden to them. That second shook me to my core. It was as if the whole lot I believed I knew about our relationship was turned the other way up, leaving me reeling.”

“You gave me all these guarantees / That I totally trusted / You gave me reassurance / Although I didn’t ask for it / You stated you’d at all times be there / That you just weren’t going wherever / However you left me at my lowest.”

An undulating, syncopated rhythm imbues the tune with a swaying movement, adopted by a seductive psychedelic interlude topped by swirling harmonies.

Mingling tints of soul, R&B, and pop, “Burden” synthesizes the three flavors right into a remarkably mesmerizing pop tune.
