Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame has been endorsed as candidate by two of the oldest and political events within the east African nation.

Liberal Social gathering (PL), and the Social Democratic Social gathering (PSD), endorsed the Rwanda Patriotic Entrance (RPF) candidate Paul Kagame within the July presidential race on Sunday, becoming a member of 4 smaller political events, that are already in a coalition with the ruling RPF — in endorsing Kagame.

“It’s a good factor that President Kagame acknowledges and considers concepts from different political events” international Minister Vincent Biruta, the PSD president stated whereas asserting his celebration’s endorsement of Kagame.

Allied to the ruling celebration, leaders of the PL and PSD have traditionally served in several authorities positions.

Kagame, 66, has dominated over Rwanda for many years. He gained the presidency in elections in 2003, 2010 and 2017 – with greater than 90 % of the vote. Critics and rights teams accuse him of ruling in a local weather of worry that stifles dissent and free speech.

Rwanda will maintain presidential and parliamentary polls on July 15.
