Plateau govt confirms six killed, 30 injured in communal clashes

The Plateau State authorities on Monday confirmed that six individuals have been killed and 30 others injured in communal clashes in Mikang native authorities space of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Data and Communication, Mr. Musa Ashoms, disclosed this to journalists on Monday in Jos.

He mentioned the clashes passed off on Sunday in Funyalang and Ponglong communities in Mikang LGA.

Ashoms suggested residents towards taking arms towards themselves over points they might resolve amicably.

He described the clashes over land disputes as unlucky.

“We awoke yesterday with this gory story that individuals who had lived collectively all their lives determined to take up arms towards themselves.

“Sadly, we misplaced six individuals and now we have about 30 individuals who’re badly injured, whereas about 40 homes have been torched and meals bans razed.

“So it’s fairly unlucky that it occurred due to a land dispute.

“It is a matter that would have been resolved amicably, in response to the Chairman of Mikang native authorities space. Once I requested him, he mentioned, the land can’t even produce six luggage of rice,” the commissioner acknowledged.
