The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the appointment of Francis Orogu as the Acting National Vice Chairman (North Central).

Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said in a statement on Tuesday that the appointment follows the expulsion of Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, the former National Vice Chairman (North Central), by the 2025 National Elective Convention of the party.

Abdulrahman Mohammed was recently appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the Nyesom Wike faction of the PDP, following the group’s decision to expel Umar Damagum for organising the elective convention in Ibadan that produced the current NWC of the party.

The PDP said the new appointment was part of decisions reached at the 610th meeting of the National Working Committee today; pursuant to the provision of Article 29(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party (as amended).

“Until his appointment as Acting National Vice Chairman, Hon. Orogu was the Secretary of the North Central Zonal Executive Committee of our Party.

“He is to act as the National Vice Chairman (North Central) pending the election of a substantive Chairman for the Zone.”

The PDP charged all the Party members, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, the media and the general public should take note.

The NWC also urged all PDP members, especially in the North Central to remain united and continue to work with “Orogu and other leaders for the progress and success of our great party.”
