Oyo weightlifting affiliation will get new chairman, guarantees revamp

Bolarinwa Kashif, the founder and chairman of Fly Health, has pledged to revitalise weightlifting in Oyo State following his appointment as chairman of the Oyo State Weightlifting Affiliation.

Kashif was formally appointed on January 23, 2025, by the Oyo State Sports activities Council for a two-year tenure. In a letter signed by Okay. A. Ojelowo, the council’s appearing common supervisor, Okay. A. Ojelowo, he was tasked with main the event of weightlifting within the state beneath the council’s supervision.

The letter said: “Out of your background, it’s hoped that you’ll use your appointment for the event of weightlifting in Oyo State and elevate it to better heights.”

Reacting to his appointment, Kashif expressed gratitude for the council’s confidence in him and warranted that he would leverage his expertise in health and sports activities improvement to advertise weightlifting within the state.

“This is a chance to do one thing important for weightlifting in Oyo State. We plan to introduce developmental programmes, expertise scouting initiatives, and advocacy campaigns that may put the game within the highlight,” he mentioned.

He additionally highlighted the significance of youth involvement in sports activities administration, emphasising that younger leaders deliver recent concepts that may drive actual progress.

“For a very long time, we have now requested the federal government to belief younger folks with management positions. This appointment exhibits that they’re starting to see our potential, and I’m dedicated to profiting from it,” he added.

Kashif’s appointment has been met with optimism throughout the sports activities group, with many hoping his management will result in elevated participation, improved infrastructure, and better success for weightlifting in Oyo State.
