Victor Osimhen is stepping into the DR Congo playoff final with a clear mind and a strong message for his teammates, stay focused and keep fighting until the very end.

The Super Eagles striker proved that message with his performance in the semifinal against Gabon. Earlier in the game, Osimhen missed a big chance in the final minute of normal time. It was the kind of moment that can break a player’s confidence, but instead, he turned it into motivation.

According to him, the miss really weighed on him. He felt he should have scored, and he didn’t hide his disappointment. Once the match went into extra time, he immediately apologised to his teammates, telling them he would make up for it.

And he did. In extra time, Osimhen came alive. He scored two important goals, a brace that sealed Nigeria’s 4–1 victory and sent the Super Eagles into the final. His response showed leadership, hunger, and a strong mentality, especially at a crucial moment.

As Nigeria prepares to face DR Congo in the playoff final, Osimhen has now shared the message he is giving his teammates: stay calm, trust each other, and fight for the badge.

He believes the team must keep the same energy they showed against Gabon, unity, confidence, and resilience.

With DR Congo also coming into the final with momentum after beating Cameroon, Osimhen says the Super Eagles must stay sharp and determined.

For him, the semifinal was a reminder that football is about bouncing back, no matter the setback. Now he wants the entire squad to carry that same spirit into Sunday’s final.
