Christmas is one magical season that comes with all the cheer, presents and sometimes… a love story waiting to unfold. It was one of those special occasions filled with the warmth of the season that brought Omolola and Olalekan together.
In the spirit of the festivities, Omolola and her flatmates organised a Christmas party, and Olalekan just happened to be one of the guests. Then a conversation ensued between the lovebirds, marking the beginning of their friendship. Weeks passed, and their connection blossomed into a beautiful love. Now the lovebirds have tied the knot in a lovely civil wedding in the United Kingdom! How amazing. It was December 2020, and my flatmates and I were hosting a Christmas party. I didn’t expect much beyond food, music, and some holiday cheer, but then Olalekan walked in as a guest. We struck up a conversation that night, and it felt easy, natural, like we had known each other forever. Over the following weeks, we kept talking. He was thoughtful, kind, and truly intentional in getting to know me. He saw me, really saw me and made me feel completely understood.

I hadn’t planned on much when I attended that Christmas party in 2020. But then I met her. From the first conversation, something just clicked. We talked repeatedly that week, and with each moment, I discovered more reasons to admire her. She had this effortless way of making every moment feel meaningful. I knew early on that she was someone incredibly special. By 2021, our friendship had grown into something deeper. We began dating, and since then, it’s been a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and unwavering support. We’re so grateful for that one December evening, as it was the beginning of everything. We got engaged in December, and now, in another December, we are tying the knot and saying yes to forever.
