The Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun Dispute on Thursday said that it had arrested two males that pretended to be herbalists as a skill to defraud folks.
The Osun NSCDC Commandant, Emmanuel Ocheja, said this right thru the parade of the suspects in Osogbo.
He said the suspects, Adeyemo Mufutau, 26, and Oladiji Hezekiah, 27, were said to hang called mobile phone numbers of unsuspecting individuals of the final public at random and compelled them to send money.
“On Monday, officers of the NSCDC in Ile-Ife arrested two suspects who indulged within the illicit industry of calling individuals of the final public on their phones, and pretending as ragged males/herbalists to defraud them.
“They’re going to send unfounded recharge playing cards to folks, and then call the receiver that the particular person must serene support return the playing cards, and afterwards introduce one ‘baba’ ( an ragged man)/ or a herbalist because the particular person meaning to send the recharge playing cards to his son.
“They’re going to say the ‘baba’ needs to particularly thank any person that sends the recharge playing cards support to them.
“All thru the plan, the suspects would introduce themselves as ragged males/herbalists who wanted to reciprocate the kind gesture of those that had sent support the recharge playing cards to them.
“The suspects would say they wanted to assist resolve the concerns of their unsuspecting individuals of the final public,” he said.
The commandant added that the suspects had confessed to the crime and could perhaps be charged to court docket.
Equally, Mr Ocheja said that two different suspects were arrested on Monday at a mining way within Ita Obi Neighborhood of Ilesa, for mining illegally while three others were also arrested on Wednesdsy for dealing illegally in petroleum products.
He said one Zainab Afeez was as soon as also arrested for assaulting and pouring sizzling water on her 11-year-ragged daughter, while one Abdulrahman Ibrahim was as soon as arrested in reference to a stolen automobile in Osogbo but recovered in Kano.
Mr Ocheja said that the full suspects could perhaps be charged to court docket after the completion of investigations into their issues.
