NPC invitations Atiku, Tinubu, others on peace settlement

The Nationwide Peace Committee has invited presidential candidates, their events and spokespersons to signal a peace settlement forward of the 2023 common elections to make sure that their campaigns are issue-based and peaceable.

The invitation was handed to the contestants, their events and spokespersons by a letter on Thursday in Abuja.

The letter indicated that the settlement could be the primary cycle to be held on September 29, 2022 on the Worldwide Convention Centre, Abuja.

Chairman of the committee Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), who signed the invitation letter said that the peace settlement will probably be signed twice earlier than the final elections.

The letter said, “the primary accord signing is meant to commit political events, candidates and their spokespersons to conduct their campaigns each on-line and offline in a peaceable method, devoid of ethnic, spiritual and hateful rhetoric that may incite violence and additional worsen the rising stress within the nation.

“The second peace settlement will maintain in January, 2023.

“These interventions are to enrich ongoing peace initiatives geared toward selling a violence-free and inclusive electioneering course of earlier than, throughout and after the declaration of the ultimate election outcomes.”
