Nigerian entrepreneur Gbotemi Kuti has led his company, Oak Heirs Limited, to acquire a controlling stake in Air Liquide Nigeria Plc, a leading supplier of industrial and medical gases.
With this acquisition, Oak Heirs now owns 87.31% of the company, officially marking its entry into the gases sector.
Air Liquide Nigeria, previously owned by the African branch of the French multinational Air Liquide, has long served hospitals, factories, and energy companies with essential gases like oxygen, nitrogen, acetylene, and argon.
The recent deal wraps up Air Liquide’s gradual exit from certain African markets and places the Nigerian firm at the center of a growing industry.
Oak Heirs is a Lagos-based investment holding company founded by Gbotemi Kuti in 2017. Until now, the company has primarily focused on real estate and food processing.
The latest addition of Air Liquide Nigeria to its portfolio signals a strategic shift toward industries with rising demand and long-term relevance in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
For Kuti, this isn’t just another business deal.
It’s a continuation of a hands-on approach that began during his time at Plarc Consultants, where he helped develop major real estate and banking infrastructure projects.
His journey from construction to corporate investments has been marked by a focus on
growth, sustainability, and long-term value creation.
Industry analysts say the acquisition could be a smart bet. With Nigeria’s growing population, rising healthcare needs, and expanding manufacturing base, the demand for industrial and medical gases is expected to surge in the coming years.
This deal was finalized with legal support from AELEX, a top-tier commercial law firm operating in Nigeria and Ghana.
With this move, Oak Heirs isn’t just growing, it’s positioning itself at the heart of Nigeria’s industrial future.
