Nigeria has unveiled an ambitious plan to raise crude oil production to three million barrels per day and gas output to twelve billion cubic feet daily by 2030.

The announcement followed the NOG Energy Week, where government and industry executives outlined urgent steps to reverse years of decline caused by theft, pipeline vandalism, and under-investment.

The new roadmap emphasises security upgrades, local modular refineries, fiscal incentives under the Petroleum Industry Act, and accelerated approvals for marginal-field operators. NNPC Limited also plans to deploy real-time surveillance technology across high-risk corridors to curb losses.

Industry observers welcome the optimism but caution that targets must be matched with credible funding, host-community engagement, and transparent contracting. With global investors pivoting to cleaner energy, time is of the essence.

If executed well, analysts say the 3 million bpd goal could boost foreign reserves, stabilise the naira, and restore Nigeria’s leadership within OPEC and the African energy landscape.
